The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association in Craig has been awarded a $55,000 grant by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to improve the quality of care and ensure more women are screened for cervical cancer, according to a news release.
Colorado will receive $577,083 from Health and Human Services through the Quality Improvement in Health Centers program, which is awarding grants to 810 health centers nationwide, according to the release.
Workshop on meditation, relaxation starts next week
A workshop titled “Finding Freedom from Old Habits and Negative Emotions” is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from Oct. 3 to Nov. 14. The course is led by Marchele McCarthy, who has a master’s in clinical counseling from the University of Northern Colorado, and will cover meditation and relaxation. The cost is $150. Bellwether Prize-winning authors to speak at library
Bellwether Prize-winning authors Naomi Benaron, author of “Running the Rift,” and Hillary Jordan, author of “Mudbound” and “When She Woke,” will discuss their novels and what the award has meant for their craft. The free talk is at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 7 at Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library. The Bellwether Prize is awarded biennially for literature that addresses issues of social justice and the impact of culture and politics on human relationships.
