Some new Colorado voters may need to confirm registration

— New voters who registered from Sept. 14 to Monday at using a mobile device or tablet may not be registered, according to a news release.

A programming error created the problem, which Secretary of State Scott Gessler estimates affected fewer than 800 first-time voters.

“My office will aggressively reach out to these individuals to ensure that they get registered,” Gessler said in the release. “Anyone who registered using the mobile site can confirm their voter registration by visiting, contacting their county clerk or calling my office (303-894-2200). I’m taking full responsibility and using all avenues available to alert these Coloradans of our mistake.”

The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 9; however, affected voters can register to vote through Election Day using an emergency registration or provisional ballot.
