Steamboat Springs After about five years away from Steamboat Motors, John Centner is back. He is taking the reins as the general manager of the Steamboat Springs dealership following the departure of Jeff Steinke.
“It’s not often in life somebody gets an opportunity for a do-over, and this is my do-over,” Centner said. “I’m enthused beyond words.”
While Centner said he’s never really left Steamboat, his work with World Class Automotive Group and then Stevinson Auto Group had him commuting to Texas and most recently the Front Range.
“Steamboat Springs is my home,” Centner said. “This is where my heart is. The people, the schools, the entire community is what makes Steamboat what it is.”
And it’s not just Steamboat he’s up on. Centner said he thinks the automotive industry is definitely on the uptick.
Acknowledging Steamboat has its fair share of walking and biking commuters, he said, most people still need some sort of automobile.
“Chrysler just came off its best month in decades,” Centner said. “Pent-up demand is kind of loosening up.”
Centner said Steamboat Motors will continue to be an integral part of the community during his second go-round.
“Here I am, back in the saddle,” he said.
