How Joel voted
Dayspring Christian, 4-0. The defending champs stayed atop the mountain with a 33-30 win against Akron, giving them two wins over my top 5. Only one game big remains, Oct. 20 against 4-0 Caliche.
Hoehne, 4-0. The Farmers kept clean with a blowout win. Two wins against the top 10 prove they have the necessary muscle.
Elbert, 4-0. It was an easy weekend for the Bulldogs, who play 4-0 Kiowa on Friday.
Akron, 3-1. They can’t fall far after losing such a tight game, 33-30, to Dayspring. They’ll be a major factor in the playoffs.
Hayden, 3-1. I really wanted to move Hayden up a bit more but couldn’t find a good excuse to put them ahead of any of these other teams. Safe to say, I think the Tigers could give any team in these rankings a good game, and beat any of them on the right day.
Caliche, 4-0. The Buffaloes started what will be a very tough stretch with a 14-12 win against Haxtun. Sedgwick County awaits this week, followed by Akron the next.
Norwood, 2-1. Had an off week yet moved one spot up.
Kiowa, 4-0. The Indians had no problems improving to 4-0, but they face a big challenge this week against Elbert.
Fowler, 3-1. Only lost once, to Akron. No shame in that.
Walsh, 3-1. A few stumbling blocks remain, but the Bobcats should finish the season having lost only in their opening week.
