Soroco, Hayden volleyball squads struggle
Steamboat Springs — What’s been a frustrating start to the season for Soroco and Hayden volleyball squads didn’t get much better this weekend as each team went winless.
The Rams fell twice, Thursday night to Vail Christian, 25-19, 25-12, 25-18, and Friday to Rangely, 20-25, 25-13, 26-24 and 25-18.
Hayden, meanwhile, lost in four games to Little Snake River on Thursday, in three to West Grand on Friday and in five to North Park on Saturday.
The two cross-county rivals have played important games against each other in recent years, but when they match up Tuesday in Hayden in their first showdown of the year against each other, they will do so with just one win between them.
That may not change much.
“It doesn’t matter what’s happened throughout the season,” Rams coach Kim Reeves said. “Our Hayden games always have juice. That’s a rivalry, and our girls really want to win.
“We need a turnaround, and we’re really hoping that can happen Tuesday so we can get out of this little slump.”
