Honey Stinger returns to roots with organic honey
Honey Stinger, the manufacturer of honey-based nutritional products based in Steamboat Springs, has announced the launch of its USDA-certified organic honey, now available at Whole Foods Market locations across the country. Honey Stinger Organic Honey is kosher, U.S. Grade A and True Source Certified from Brazil.
“My family has been in the honey business for three generations,” Bill Gamber, Honey Stinger co-founder, said in a prepared statement. “I think my grandparents would be excited and proud to see Honey Stinger launching organic honey and introducing more people to the benefits of pure, natural honey.”
Gamber’s grandparents, Ralph and Luella Gamber, nurtured a three-hive hobby into the Dutch Gold Honey Company, now the largest independently owned honey company in the U.S. After moving to Colorado, he maintained ties to the family business, launching Honey Stinger in 2002 and offering honey-based energy bars, gels, chews and waffles targeted toward athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.
Whole Foods has a 90-day exclusive to sell Honey Stinger Organic Honey through Dec. 1.
In other news, Honey Stinger has announced the addition of Jennifer Shea as its national sales manager. In addition, current sales team member Christian Boeri has been named key account representative for the grocery category.
Shea joins the Honey Stinger team as national sales manager with more than 15 years of sales and marketing experience across a variety of industries. Shea worked in the magazine industry for leading publishers and national distributors as well as for the Hearst Distribution Group and Time Warner Retail Sales and Marketing, where she held several leadership positions including brand manager, director of sales for direct and regional wholesale sales and key account management.
“Jennifer has a strong background in sales and has proven herself as a natural leader on a national level as well as here in Steamboat,” Gamber said in a press release. “We are looking forward to growing Honey Stinger sales under her strong leadership.”
“I am thrilled to join Honey Stinger at such an amazing time,” Shea was quoted as saying in the release. “The company’s products and business philosophy continue to drive health, wellness and performance. I look forward to working with our talented staff to increase sales and expand our market share.”
Boeri changes roles within the company, transitioning to the grocery sales team from his current sales position in the bicycle category. Boeri has more than five years of sales and marketing experience in the outdoor industry promoting Sole Technology’s brands, including Thirty Two, Emerica and Altamont. He joined Honey Stinger earlier this year.
