Steamboat Springs soccer team beats Eagle Valley

— The Steamboat Springs High School boys soccer team picked up a 2-0 win Thursday in Eagle Valley.

The Sailors (2-0) struggled at points but were able to remain unblemished in picking up their first Western Slope League win of the year.

“It was not an easy win,” Steamboat coach Rob Bohlmann said.

Steamboat got on the board early in the first half when Hanson Buchner scored on a penalty kick.

Sophomore Sam Rossman scored in the second half off of a corner kick from junior Peter White for the final result.

Steamboat also got several big saves in the second half from sophomore Jake Anderson.

Steamboat returns to action at 11 a.m. Saturday when the team hosts Rifle. Win there and it sets up a huge match at 6 p.m. Tuesday at rival Battle Mountain.
