— The USA Pro Cycling Challenge announced on its Facebook page Wednesday the dates for the 2013 event. It will begin Aug. 19 and run through Aug. 25. The route hasn’t been announced.

“We’ll submit a proposal,” said Jim Schneider, who chaired the local committee that organized the race’s Steamboat stop in 2011. “We’re working on that. We’ve had one meeting, and we have several more on our calendar to prepare our proposals.”

The proposals are due in mid-November. Last year, the Pro Cycling Challenge released the official route in December.

Schneider encouraged businesses or individuals to submit letters of support to the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association or to email him at jschneider@steamboat.com for inclusion in the proposal.

“I would hope that we have a chance that it would return,” he said. “Having conversations with organizers, they were happy with what Steamboat Springs did the last time around.”
