Steamboat Springs The storm system expected to leave as many as 18 inches of snow to the Sierra Nevada mountains Monday is forecast to bring the next chance of moisture and possible wintry weather to Steamboat Springs by Tuesday. Mild daytime temperatures and rain showers will then give way to a chance of snow Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction.
Tuesday’s high temperature is expected to be 60 degrees, but Wednesday won’t get out of the mid-50s, and the overnight lows Wednesday into Thursday will dip to the mid-20s with a 40 percent chance of rain mixed with snow.
The cold is forecast to settle in Thursday, when the high will reach only 41 degrees. There is a 40 percent chance of snow Thursday.
The National Weather Service expects a series of shortwaves from the main storm to flow toward northern Utah and the southwest corner of Wyoming early this week with each wave dipping farther south and increasing in strength as the storm track moves toward Northwest Colorado.
