— Warm and dry days in Steamboat Springs are forecast to end Tuesday with the arrival of colder and wetter weather.

“It's still kind of dynamic right now,” National Weather Service forecaster Mike Chamberlain said Sunday about the Yampa Valley forecast this week that includes a chance of a Pacific storm capable of producing some snow over Steamboat and higher elevations. “Right now we don't expect any winter (storm warnings or advisories) from this storm, but that could change in the next day or two.”

The weather in Steamboat will start to change Tuesday when the forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of showers and a high temperature of 61 degrees. Chamberlain said the greatest chance for precipitation, and some snow mostly at higher elevations, comes Wednesday.

“There could be some significant snow above 9,000 feet, but we'll have to wait and see,” he said.

Steamboat has chances for snow and rain in the forecast through Friday.

Local high temperatures are expected to drop into the 40s starting Thursday as a cold front settles in. Lows will be in the low 20s.
