Business briefs: Routt County grants 3 new building permits

The Routt County Regional Building Department reported this week that it is issuing a building permit valued at $1.3 million in Sidney Peak Ranch.

In addition, the department issued a permit for a single-family home on Ridge Line Court outside Hayden with a permit valuation of $560,000.

There also was a permit issued for a $300,000 remodel to an existing home at Lake Catamount.

Sustainable Business of the Year goes to PostNet

The Steamboat Sustainable Business Consortium hosts its annual awards from 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Ranch at Steamboat conference center, 1800 Ranch Road.

According to a news release, the Sustainable Business of the Year award will be presented to PostNet, which enrolled in the program in 2007 and achieved gold-level certification through energy-efficient lighting, heating and cooling; and transitioning to recycled products.

“The honor of this award is very exciting for me and my team and also very humbling,” PostNet owner Kathy Stokes said in the release.

Past recipients include Marabou, SmartWool, Black Tie Ski Rentals, GoAlpine Taxi and LightWorks of Steamboat.

The Long Term Achievement Award, which is new this year, will be presented to BAP, which also joined the program in 2007 and achieved gold-level certification. BAP has demonstrated a long-term commitment to sustainability and recently installed a solar energy system, according to the release.

ACZ Labs picks up 2012 national award

The Washington, D.C.-based American Council of Independent Laboratories announced in a news release in early October that ACZ Labs in Steamboat Springs is among the 18 laboratories receiving the nationwide 2012 ACIL Seal of Excellence Award at the ACIL annual meeting in New York City.

The award was developed in 1996 to recognize laboratories with exemplary quality performance, according to the release. Participants commit to ensuring data integrity, meeting customers’ quality needs and setting performance standards for the testing laboratory industry, the release stated.
