Steamboat golf courses prepare to close for season

— With the weather changing, area golf courses are prepping for the homestretch. Here is a look at when each plans to close:

Rollingstone Ranch

The mountain course will close Sunday. Head pro Brian Thorne said they always shoot for the third week of October. He said that the course still is in good shape but that all golf carts are gone.

Prices to walk are $35 for nine and $55 for 18.

Thorne also said they have new membership opportunities with reduced initiation fees. Those interested should contact Thorne at 970-879-1391 or bthorne@troongolf.com.

“It was a good season,” he said. “It was a great September and a good October. I can’t believe we’re almost closed.”

Haymaker Golf Course

The city-run course is scheduled to close Nov. 4, depending on the weather.

The course remains in good condition, and it will have a special for nonresidents and nonresident property owners.
Those guests can play for the locals rate. It’s $51 for 18 and $33 for nine.

Twilight also begins at 3 p.m., and those with punch cards are encouraged to use them as they cannot transfer to next season.

Steamboat Golf Club

The west end golf course is shooting to close the first weekend of November.

Depending on the weather and frost, people can begin making tee times at 10 a.m. The cost is $34 for 18 and $23 for nine.
