Steamboat briefs: ‘The Things They Carried’ community read is Thursday

A community read of Tim O’Brien’s “The Things They Carried” with a live reading by Mike Forney is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Bud Werner Memorial Library as part of One Book Steamboat. Forney, an adult story-time reader at the library, will read aloud Tim O’Brien’s signature short story from the novel of the same name. The free reading will be about 50 minutes. Center for Visual Arts to host a Halloween Bash

The Steamboat Springs Center for Visual Arts will be host the second annual Halloween Bash at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31 at Sweetwater Grill. Tickets are $40 and include dinner, dancing, raffle ticket and prizes for best costumes. Proceeds benefit Center for Visual Arts art education programs.
