Steamboat briefs: Applications for Register of Historic Properties due

Applications for designation on the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due Wednesday in the Routt County Board of Commissioners Office in the Routt County Courthouse. The applications will be reviewed by the Routt County Historic Preservation Board at its Oct. 24 meeting. Call Dee Bolton at 970-879-0108 for more information. GMU No. 23 portion to be closed because of a fire
The U.S. Forest Service is closing the southeast portion of Game Management Unit 23 in White River National Forest because of the Middle Elk Fire, according to a news release. The fire was caused by an unattended campfire, according to USFS officials. The area is closed through Dec. 31.

Residents of area counties can access carpool service
Residents of Routt, Moffat and Rio Blanco counties have access to a free, online carpool matching service sponsored by Yampa Valley Data Partners, according to a news release.
Organizers hope the website will be a resource to help Northwest Colorado residents save on transportation costs.
The website launched Oct. 1 and can be found at www.carpoolworld.com/northwestcolorado.
