Steamboat briefs: Applications for the Holiday Wishes program due Friday
Friday, November 30, 2012
Applications for the Routt County United Way Holiday Wishes program are due Friday.
Those who wish to apply for the annual program, in which donors provide holiday presents for families facing financial challenges, should return a completed application to their designated health and human services organization by the end of the day.
Youths can pay off book fines through December
During December, youths ages 17 and younger can pay off their book fines by participating in Bud Werner Memorial Library’s Food for Fines Program. For every can or box of food brought to the Kids’ Desk, the library will waive $1 of overdue fines.
The following items will count toward $2 in waived fines: canned tuna or chicken, peanut butter, pasta sauce and healthy cereal (no high-fructose corn syrup). All food will be donated to the LIFT-UP Food Bank. Visit www.steamboatlibrary.org for more information.
