Season passes to Howelsen Hill Ski Area will be on sale from 3 to 7 p.m. Nov. 27 to 30 at the Howelsen Hill Concession Stand and during normal operating hours throughout the season. The ski area is scheduled to open with limited terrain Dec. 1.
Preseason prices are $35 for children 6 and younger, $75 for youths ages 7 to 18 and seniors ages 60 and older, $95 for full-time college students with proof of enrollment, $170 for adults ages 19 to 59 and $370 for a family including an adult and spouse and all children younger than 18. Prices will increase Jan. 1.

Prescribed slash burn set for Steamboat Ski Area
Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. and the U.S. Forest Service will be conducting a prescribed slash burn near the Slope Maintenance facility at Steamboat Ski Area as early as Saturday morning and continuing through the week as conditions allow, according to a news release. The burn will consist of beetle-killed slash materials, primarily nonmerchantable wooden debris and remnants from the summer logging project, according to the release.
Nonprofits sought for Dec. 2 Christmas Tree Auction

Reservations due Saturday for Thanksgiving food baskets
The Hayden Congregational Church will distribute its annual Thanksgiving food baskets to Hayden families in need Sunday. Operation Christmas Child boxes due at 5 p.m. Saturday
As part of Operation Christmas Child, Concordia Lutheran Church is collecting shoe boxes filled with gifts including school supplies, toys, necessity items and notes of encouragement. Those who would like to participate are asked to fill a shoebox, or pick up at the church a box to fill, and drop it off at the church by 5 p.m. Saturday, 755 Concordia Lane, with a $7 check to cover shipping. Mainstreet’s Gingerbread House Tour begins Dec. 1
As part of the annual Merry Mainstreet Downtown Holiday Celebration on Dec. 8, Mainstreet Steamboat is holding its annual Gingerbread House Tour for professionals and amateur gingerbread house constructors. Houses will be on display in downtown businesses from Dec. 1 through Jan. 1. From Dec. 1 through Dec. 8, the public will be able to vote for their favorite house using ballots available in each display location. The winners will be announced Dec. 10. The winner of each category will receive $100 in Downtown Dollars to be used at any shop and restaurant in downtown Steamboat. Volunteers sought to serve as Nordic Ambassadors
The Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department is looking for volunteers to serve as Nordic Ambassadors at Howelsen Hill Ski Area. The Ambassadors are needed to educate Nordic trail users about appropriate use of the facility. Volunteers must complete a city application and background check process successfully.
