— The format might be different, but the goal of this year's Stars at Night fundraiser remains the same.

Table sponsorships are now on sale for the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Foundation's second annual fundraising gala. The event is Dec. 29 at The Steamboat Grand.

Patti Kauf-Melehes, director of the foundation, said this year's Stars at Night won’t feature a fashion show, but the theme — "Steamboat Classy" — will be similar. Past, present and future Olympians will join the celebration for a night of entertainment, drinks, dinner, dancing and a live auction.

Two levels of tables currently are available. Diamond table sponsorships cost $8,000, and Sapphire table sponsorships cost $5,000. Individual tickets go on sale Nov. 21 for $150.

Proceeds from the evening's live auction all will go to benefit the Winter Sports Club's general fund.

Kauf-Melehes said the event raised more than $70,000 last year, and the hope is to raise close to $100,000 this year.

“Through these events, you can donate to the club,” Kauf-Melehes said. “All proceeds from the auction go to the general fund.”

The foundation serves as the Winter Sports Club’s endowment fund. It currently has about $2.3 million and contributes 5 percent of its earnings annually to the club's operation. Last year, it donated $127,000 to the Winter Sports Club.

The goal of the foundation, Kauf-Melehes said, is for the endowment to reach $10 million, which she said would secure the future of the Winter Sports Club.

Donations to the foundation or the Winter Sports Club are "Qualified Enterprise Zone Contributions," meaning they qualify for 25 percent Colorado income tax credit.
