Steamboat briefs: County historic properties applications due by Friday

Applications for designation on the Routt County Register of Historic Properties are due to the Routt County Board of Commissioners office by Friday. Applications will be reviewed by the Routt County Historic Preservation Board at its June 6 meeting. For more information, call Dee Bolton at 970-879-0108. Early pricing deadline for ski area passes are June 1

Season passes to Steamboat Ski Area are available at preseason pass rates through June 1. A $99 deposit is required to reserve a pass, and full payment is due by Sept. 17. The adult pass is $959 through June 1, $1,069 from June 2 to Aug. 15 and $1,279 starting Aug. 16. Passes are on sale at www.steamboat.com or by calling Steamboat Central Reservations at 970-879-0740.

Grand Futures Adventure 5K will be held June 9

Grand Futures Prevention Coalition is holding an Adventure 5K Scavenger Hunt on June 9 in Steamboat Springs. Registration and check-in is from 8 to 9 a.m. at Steamboat Springs High School, and the race starts at 9. The event is geared toward families but is open to all. Preregister through June 1 for $100 per team of four or $75 per family team of four, consisting of at least one adult and children younger than 16. Registration from June 2 to 9 increases by $20. Teams can vie for prizes, including one for best costume. Proceeds benefit Grand Futures work toward preventing substance use in youths. $30,000 in grants to be awarded to organizations

In June, the Yampa Valley Community Foundation will award $30,000 in grants to organizations within the Steamboat Springs community in honor of Gloria Gossard. This is a one-time granting opportunity outside of the Community Foundation’s annual community grants cycle and was made possible through an additional distribution from Gossard’s estate. Grant recipients will be announced at the Celebration of Philanthropy on June 24.

The Gloria Gossard Special Grants are limited to organizations or programs providing arts and culture, education, or health and human services within Steamboat Springs. Further, the grants are for special projects or eminent organizational needs. Applications are due to grants@yvcf.org by 4 p.m. June 1 and can be found at yvcf.org or by calling 970-879-8632.

Sisters in Steamboat is in need of speakers for event

The fourth annual Sisters in Steamboat weekend from Oct. 12 to 14 is in need of speakers. This year’s theme is “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!” Event organizers are looking for dynamic and interesting speakers to host interactive talks, workshops and activities to ensure local and visiting sisters have a wonderful time.
