Steamboat Springs Two Steamboat Springs High School girls lacrosse players were named to the Mountain League Girls All-League team.
Defenseman Nikki Fry was named to the first team while attack Aleigh Aurin was named to the second team.
“She’s a great defender,” coach Betsy Frick said about Fry. “She’s a great basketball player and athlete in general.”
Aurin led the team in scoring.
“She was really effective at shooting,” Frick said.
The team, despite an 0-14 record, showed significant signs of improvement. For that reason Frick was named Co-Coach of the Year.
“That blew me away,” Frick said. “What I said to the girls is it’s really a reflection of how far the team came in a short time.”
Fry and Aurin will play in an All-League game Thursday at Regis Jesuit High School. The Mountain League will join forces with the Southern League to play at least two games.
