Steamboat briefs: Thursday named Electric Vehicle Day in Colorado

Gov. John Hickenlooper has proclaimed Thursday as Electric Vehicle Day in Colorado, and the nonprofit Northern Colorado Clean Cities will host a public education roundtable from 3:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday outside Bud Werner Memorial Library. The public will have a chance to ask questions and take an educational quiz to try to win an Electric Ride T-shirt.

On Monday, Northern Colorado Clean Cities and science teachers at Steamboat Springs High School and The Lowell Whiteman School are teaming up to host an interactive lesson for students, who will have a chance to learn from a national renewable energy expert, earn T-shirts and talk with owners of several electric cars on display.

The local events are part of Project Fostering Electric Vehicle Expansion in the Rockies. For more information, visit www.northcolocleancities.com or www.electricridecolorado.com.
