K. Saari Gallery in downtown Steamboat to close next month

K. Saari Gallery to close after April show

Steamboat Springs gallery owner Kimberly Saari plans to close her downtown art space in mid-April.

Saari first opened the gallery in 2007 to showcase local and national contemporary art. The gallery moved to two other locations in Steamboat before landing back in its original location in the 800 block of Lincoln Avenue.

Saari said she will miss the daily interactions with locals, visitors and clients.

“I’m doing it because I’m ready to enjoy a little more of a life in Steamboat,” she said. “It’s been my life for five and a half years.

“I’m ready to enjoy the valley a bit more without having the responsibility of having a storefront on Lincoln Avenue.”

Saari said she will continue to represent her artists, expand her online presence and will stay involved with the local arts community.

The final show at the gallery — a group show of the artists she represents — will open next week during First Friday Artwalk.
