Hayden, Steamboat club volleyball team wraps season

— The Whiteout 14s Black, a club volleyball team made up of seventh- and eighth-graders from Steamboat and Hayden, wrapped up its season last weekend with a fifth-place finish at the Western Colorado Volleyball Championships in Grand Junction.

The team competed in three Rocky Mountain Region power tournaments, finishing as runner-up twice and in third place in the other. The team also competed in the Colorado Crossroads Junior National Qualifier that attracts hundreds of teams from across the country.

On the season, the team finished with a record of 10-10-7.



The team was coached by Kathy Hockett and Mytina Eckhaus. Team members included eighth-graders Jenna Miller, Maddie Labor, Brittney Starks, Anna Skubiz, Libby Stanford, Natalee Wirth, Ty Kortas and Temsup Techarukpong, and seventh-graders Riley Toye, Sydney Weber and Jessika Hockett.
