Steamboat briefs: Figure Skating Club presents spring ice show this week

The Steamboat Springs Figure Skating Club presents its spring ice show at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Howelsen Ice Arena. “Broadway on Ice” features routines by synchronized skate groups Team Volant, including skaters Hanna and Kayla Haggarty, Gillian Cook, Clare Franklin, Cassie Wilhelm, Patricia Davie, Kaitlyn Espinosa and Heather Nereson; and Mini-Team Volant, including skaters Amanda Perlman, Tasha Getten, Sage Turek, Mariah Walker, Alison Famulare, Soren Brockway and Natasha Curzon. The show also features duets and trio performances by club members. Tickets are $25 for VIPs, $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger and are available at All That Jazz, the ice arena and the door.

Join Earth Hour supporters March 31 at Howelsen Hill

The Yampa Valley Sustainability Council honors Earth Hour from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. March 31 at Howelsen Hill. Earth Hour is led by the World Wildlife Fund to raise awareness about climate change, according to a news release. YVSC encourages Earth Hour supporters to join the festivities by turning off their lights at home and coming out to the event. Bring a candle for yourself and one to share, stories of sustainability efforts, warm clothes and ideas about how Steamboat can “go beyond the hour.”

Hayden Public Library book fair luau starts Thursday

Hayden Public Library hosts a book fair luau during regular library hours through March 26. A bake sale Friday helps kick off the book fair and the new Friends of the Library group.

Applications for United Way grant due Friday

Routt County United Way is accepting applications for the Arthur E. Anderson High Impact Funding Grant. The grant amount is $10,000. Any nonprofit or governmental organizations in Routt County that serve Routt County residents can apply to fund a project that provides health and human services to residents of Routt County. Applications that address innovative and collaborative efforts are encouraged. Steamboat Art Museum seeks gift shop volunteers
