— The Steamboat Springs High School hockey team picked up a number of honors Thursday, a trio of Sailors earning all-league or all-state honors.

Senior Lance Ostrom and junior Christian Ramirez were listed as honorable mention all-state players. Ramirez, meanwhile, was listed as a first-team all-conference defensive player.

“That means coaches from around the state were taking notice,” Steamboat coach Jeff Ruff said. “They were noticing our guys, and that’s always pretty special. Those guys were a big part of our season this year.”

Ostrom and sophomore Matt Hale made honorable mention in the conference.

“That’s huge for a sophomore like Matt,” Ruff said. “He’s going to be a big part of our program for the next three years, and that’s pretty exciting.”

Ostrom also was invited to play in the senior all-star game March 24 at the Pepsi Center in Denver.
