Dave McIrvin: Fireworks danger
Saturday, June 30, 2012
This wildfire season obviously is a huge concern to all. It was very wise to cancel our beloved Fourth of July fireworks display at Howelsen Hill.
I am only an observer and not an active participant in the use of “home” fireworks. Is anyone else concerned about the youths and youthful adults who will want to continue the holiday tradition with their “leftovers” from last year?
Would it be safer for our community to allow recreational fireworks to be concentrated for two hours at the Meadows lot with volunteers and fire crews to observe and stand by?

No. It would be safer to pass a law allowing the general public to beat the living daylights out of anyone stupid enough to play with fire while we are sitting on a powder keg.
