— Steamboat Ski Area will open several of its mountain bike trails Saturday, with the gondola and Steamboat Bike Park downhill trails set to open June 15.

Trails from midmountain to the base area scheduled to open Saturday include Creekside, Valley View, Yoo Hoo, Zig Zag, Spur Run and the uphill-only Why Not.

The Thunderhead Hiking Trail also will open Saturday.

The gondola and Steamboat Bike Park downhill trails will open June 15. Five downhill trails will be part of that opening: Tenderfoot, Sitz, Wrangler Gulch, E-Z Rider and Buckin’ Bronc.

The midmountain downhill trail Rustler’s Ridge is expected to be completed next month.

A ticket is required to use the Steamboat Bike Park downhill trails. The daily cost to access the bike park is $35, or $25 for those who have a 2011-12 season ski pass.

Season bike park passes are $199 for those who didn’t also purchase a ski pass last season, or $159 for those with a season ski pass.

Winter season pass holders from last year and those who already have put down their $99 deposit for a 2012-13 ski pass will have free access to the gondola during the summer. Otherwise, a gondola summer pass costs $95. Daily gondola rides cost $20.
