Yampa River Botanic Park to host series of classes

Yampa River Botanic Park will be hosting a series of free and informative Wednesday Wonderings classes from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. throughout the summer. Yampa River Botanic Park to sell perennials at market

Yampa River Botanic Park board members will sell at the Mainstreet Farmers Market perennial varieties that do well in our growing environment. The farmers market runs Saturdays from June 9 through September at Sixth Street and Lincoln Avenue. Master gardeners also will be able to answer questions about growing requirements for the plants. The proceeds will go to support ongoing garden maintenance.

Class on writing a book starts today at college

A class about writing a successful book starts from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colorado Mountain College’s Alpine Campus. Edith Lynn Hornik-Beer, the author of five published books, will teach the course, which meets for one month and costs $50. Topics covered include how to organize a book, develop a style, approach agents and publishing houses, market a book and publish and sell on the Internet. Free food safety class is offered by Routt County

Routt County Environmental Health is offering a free food safety class from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse. This free class offers interactive, hands-on training focused on the leading risk factors linked to food borne illness. Preregistration is required.
