Routt County Riders trail workday is on Saturday

A Routt County Riders trail workday is Saturday at Emerald Mountain. Volunteers should meet at 9 a.m. at Blackmer Drive, and transportation will be provided to the work areas. The sixth trail workday of the summer is presented in collaboration with Young Professionals Network.

Tools will be provided, and volunteers should wear sturdy shoes, bring work gloves, a backpack, sunscreen, a hat and water. Snacks will be provided on the trail by Honey Stinger. Following the work session at about 1 p.m., volunteers can enjoy lunch provided by Freshies and beverages donated by New Belgium Brewing Co. A 3-day problem solving course offered by library

Bud Werner Memorial Library presents Math with a Twist, a three-day problem solving course for children. The Aug. 6 to 8 class is for children in fourth through seventh grades and is taught by Kerry Kerrigan and Robin Bush. The program takes place in the Teen Project Room each day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for fourth- and fifth-graders and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. for sixth- and seventh-graders. Water tour from Steamboat to Stagecoach is on July 26

A Steamboat to Stagecoach Reservoir water tour is from 5 to 7 p.m. July 26. Topics include what local agriculture producers are doing without water, how wildlife and fire are coping, the role of the water districts, a look at Walton Creek and Stagecoach Reservoir, and the administration of water. The cost is $20 for Community Agriculture Alliance members and $25 for nonmembers. The fee includes transportation and a light dinner. Reservations are required by Monday to 970-879-4370.

Steamboat’s Relay For Life event is on July 27 and 28

Relay For Life is coming to Steamboat Springs from 6 p.m. July 27 to 8 a.m. July 28. At this year’s event, Routt County CattleWomen will be serving chili at 10 p.m. July 27, and the Lions Club and The Egg & I will dish up breakfast at 6:30 a.m. July 28. In addition to walking the track all night long, participants will dance to local music and a DJ, sing karaoke and play games. Yoga instructor Nina Darlington will guide a short yoga session the morning of July 28 highlighting her knowledge of yoga and its benefits for cancer survivors, including assisting in the healing process, alleviating symptoms from treatment and decreasing pain and stress. All are welcome to join. Cancer survivors are invited to the survivor dinner at 7 p.m. July 27 and should RSVP to sarah.blakeslee@cancer.org. Those who have been touched by cancer are invited to take part in the luminaria ceremony at 10 p.m. July 27 or walk a lap with a friend. Steamboat Clay Artisans seeking event beneficiary

The Steamboat Clay Artisans are seeking a Routt County nonprofit organization to be the beneficiary of the 11th annual 2012 Soup Bowl Supper. Members of Clay Artisans will create the one-of-a-kind ceramic bowls to be given to ticket holders who fill the bowl with soups, breads and desserts donated by local restaurants, bakeries and grocers. Other locally made ceramic items are auctioned off during the fundraiser, which is expected to net at least $6,000 for the beneficiary.

Beneficiary duties include procuring the food and venue, serving the food, setting up the event and taking care of clean up. A detailed list of responsibilities is available at www.steamboatclayartisans.yolasite.com.
