David Smith: Addressing the facts

The photo and caption about a fire along U.S. Highway 40 on July 12 left out some key facts. First and foremost is the fact that the fire was not put out by Steamboat firefighters. The flames were put out by three unidentified citizens who, after the fire was put out, stayed until police officers arrived to take control of the scene. The picture shows the firefighters covering the burn scene with dirt and attacking any hot spots that remained.
