Omar M. Campbell: Putting on pressure

Those readers who did not get Sen. Rand Paul’s June 20 letter about the United Nations’ effort to control small arms worldwide — especially in the U.S. — read on.

He quotes Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as saying “the Obama administration will be working hand-in-glove with the U.N. to pass a new U.N. Small Arms Treaty.” You all know what that means — registration and eventual confiscation of our guns, as happened in Britain a few years ago.

Paul said 67 percent of the Senate (apparently the House is not involved) must ratify a treaty before it goes to the president for actual execution. Paul urges that we gun owners pressure our senators to vote against ratification. Let’s do it.

Although President Barack Obama declared in favor of the Second Amendment during the last campaign, he since has proven cavalier about his promises and his respect for the Constitution.

I am sure our left-wing, socialist-leaning leader would happily issue an executive order to approve such a treaty if he thought he could get away with it. Thankfully, the Constitution requires Senate vetting and ratification. Maybe a new conservative hand on the tiller of our ship of state after Nov. 6 would dissolve the issue?

"A new conservative hand on the tiller of the ship of state"... you mean Richie Rich ? Just so you can keep your small arms? Maybe you best go out while you can and hide them under your bed and I promise I won't tell when those left-wing socialist types come a asking and searching. But, trust 'ole Bill that ain't a gonna happen. There, you can rest easier. BTW: I do not get Rand Paul's newsletter. Thank GOD. I get enough trash in the mailbox.
