Steamboat Springs Lauryn Bruggink led the Soroco wrestling squad Saturday in a tough meet in Center. The Rams senior placed fifth in the 106-pound weight division, the only Soroco wrestler to earn such honors.
“It was a pretty good tournament,” coach Jay Whaley said. “In Tristan’s weight (145 pounds), eight of the top 10 kids in the state were there.”
The Soroco team returns to action Thursday, when it will play host to a home triangular against Steamboat Springs and Hayden. After that, it travels to Meeker on Saturday to wrap up the regular season. The Center meet was as good a preparation as his team could have asked for, Whaley said.
“They need to know what it takes to be the best, so it’s always good to see that,” he said.
