Steamboat Alpine ski teams finish 2nd at Loveland

— The Steamboat Springs High School Alpine ski teams each finished second Friday at a slalom event in Loveland.

The girls and boys teams finished just points off first place. Nederland won the girls meet with a score of 171 points to Steamboat’s 164. The boys team finished one point behind eventual winner Aspen.

The girls team was led by Sarah White’s third-place finish. Megan Rosa was fifth, Rachel Grubbs was 13th, Marnie Buckley was 14th and Martha Anderson was 17th.

Connor Bernard paced the boys with a first-place finish, his second slalom win of the year.

Tommy Lyon was fourth, Peter White was sixth, Alec Schaffer was seventh and Willy Gunn was eighth.

The team next competes Friday at Beaver Creek.
