— Laken Wilson, the 19-year-old Mississippi woman who suffered serious head injuries after sliding into a snow gun Jan. 1 at the ski area, has been released from Denver Health and returned home Sunday.

“Laken had a good first full day home,” read a www.caringbridge.com website that was set up for Wilson. “She is doing well, and she still has her sense of humor. She makes us laugh a lot because she spouts out those little Laken wisecracks, but she does have moments where she gets sad or frustrated.”

Wilson will continue rehabilitating from her injuries at home.

After the accident, Wilson was airlifted to Denver and underwent three hours of surgery after suffering a skull fracture. She was hiking around the mountain when she lost her footing at the intersection of the Concentration and Vagabond ski trails near the top of the Thunderhead Express chairlift.
