— It was a good weekend for several of the more than a dozen Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club athletes who traveled to Copper Mountain for the Holeshot NorAm Tour.

Several top riders returned to Steamboat Springs with a good shot at the Junior World Championships after posting top finishes at the qualifier and now are in a good position to claim spots for that event, which will take place in Spain this March.

Steamboat opened the weekend with a solid showing in the women’s snowboarding. Belle Brockhoff led the way in her first NorAm snowboard cross event since switching from Alpine snowboard racing. She took first place in the women’s division of Saturday’s event and was followed by teammates Jenna Feldman in second and Rosie Mancari in third. Other top Steamboat finishes came from Annabel Tudhope in eighth and Brooke Brewer in 36th.

Mick Dierdorff turned in a fifth-place finish in the men’s snowboarding division. Jarryd Hughes was seventh, Ross Andrews was ninth and Hunter Murphy came in 16th. Keith Truitt (30th), Max Miller (31st) and Greg Whitethead (41) also competed for Steamboat at the event.

“It was a great day for our girls,” Winter Sports Club snowboard director Jon Casson said in a statement Monday. “They rode great and dominated the field to sweep the podium.”

The Steamboat team also turned in a great showing at Sunday’s event.

Brockoff picked up her second podium in two days with a second-place finish. Feldman was fourth, and Mancari placed eighth despite falling in the semifinals. Tudhope was 20th, and Brewer wrapped up and finished with a 23rd-place showing.

Andrews led the local men’s finishes at fifth, Hughes was sixth and Dierdorff came in ninth in the race. Murphy was 12th, Truitt came in at 16th and Miller was 24th.

Steamboat also has several skiers competing in the event. Results for those events had not been posted late Monday afternoon.
