Peabody Energy announces Twentymile Mine extension

Peabody Energy announced Monday in a news release an extension of its Twentymile Mine. The company will develop the Sage Creek portal in the existing coal seam and move the longwall. The new portal will provide access to an additional 105 million tons of coal, and development work is expected to begin in May, according to the release.

Longwall production is anticipated in the second half of 2015. The cost of the extension is expected to be about $200 million, according to the release.
