Steamboat Springs Some athletes improved. Some didn’t, and in the end, Soroco wrestling coach Jay Whaley said the takeaway from his team’s Saturday tournament in Leadville was that work still remains if the squad is to achieve all it can.
Dillon Koler led the way for the Rams, finishing second place at 132 pounds.
“He had a heck of a day,” Whaley said. “He needed that. He wrestled tough.”
Colton Martindale placed third, wrestling at 113 pounds and Lauryn Bruggink, at 106 pounds, and Tristan Palyo, at 145 pounds, each were fourth.
“We still have some work to do,” Whaley said. “Last week we started terrible and finished strong and this week we started strong and finished poorly. Hopefully, we’ll get it straightened out.”
The team returns to action Thursday in a quadrangular with Hayden.
