Sailors Alpine teams finish well Friday

Luke Graham

— The Steamboat Springs High School girls Alpine team made it three-for-three Friday, winning a giant slalom race in Eldora.

After winning the first two events of the year, the girls team registered three top 10 finishes Friday.

The boys team finished third.

Leading the way for the girls team was Mallory Hoots in fourth place. Megan Rosa was fifth, Sarah White was seventh, McKenzie Millard was 14th, Marnie Buckley was 18th, Martha Anderson was 21st, Rachel Grubbs was 22nd, and Mariah Hoots was 24th.

On the boys side, Steamboat was paced by a sixth-place finish from Tommy Lyon. Danny Kramer was 12th, Alec Schaffer was 15th, Dane Dixson was 18th, Andreas Fould was 23rd, and Eric Samuelson was 25th.

“They all skied really well,” Steamboat coach Anje Worrell said. “Especially considering the conditions were extremely tough with the race starting late. The weather was terrible with wind and really rough course conditions.”
