Steamboat Springs The Steamboat Springs High School wrestling team picked up a pair of high finishes Saturday at a tournament in Evergreen. Nathan Parks finished fifth at 120 pounds while Casey Williams was fourth at 152.
“It was a tough tournament and everyone wrestled well,” coach Shane Yeager said. “They were being aggressive and developing their own identity, figuring out what they’re good at.”
The squad now is preparing for a series of contests in or near Routt County. Steamboat will travel Thursday for a dual at Moffat County High School, will wrestle at home Jan. 24 against Eagle Valley, Jan. 26 in Hayden, Jan. 31 at home against Summit and Feb. 2 at Soroco.
“We’re excited to get to wrestle close to home and give the locals a chance to see us compete,” Yeager said. “I feel really good about the team. We’ve put together a couple good weeks of practice and they’re really growing together.”
