Steamboat Springs The Rams breezed to a 4-0 non-league start to the season, but they struggled Friday and Saturday as they entered the league portion of their schedule.
Soroco lost Friday to Rangely, 67-43, and on Saturday to Vail Christian, 79-39.
“I guess it’s good to see where we’re at with some league teams,” Soroco coach Sam McLeod said. “I’m proud of how my kids battled.”
McLeod said Soroco was competitive with Rangely and had a chance to win Friday but struggled shooting the ball.
Those offensive woes certainly carried over into Saturday.
“They’re pretty amazing,” he said about Vail Christian. “They’re the fastest team I’ve ever seen up here in this part of the country. You blink, and they are gone.”
Soroco has a chance to get back on track next weekend. The team plays at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Plateau Valley and at 4 p.m. Saturday at home against West Grand.
“We should be able to get back on track next week if we get our shooting back on track,” McLeod said. “It’s definitely been a tough couple of days shooting the ball.”
