2 Steamboat snowboarders make podium at Northstar

Hallie Soderholm, from left, Kelly Marren and Kirby Kelly were the top three snowboarders at a freestyle Revolution Tour event at the Northstar at Tahoe Resort in Lake Tahoe, Calif. Soderholm and Kelly, of Steamboat Springs, came in second and third, respectively.

— Two Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club freestyle snowboarders made the podium at a Revolution Tour stop at the Northstar at Tahoe Resort in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

Hallie Soderholm finished second Thursday while teammate Kirby Kelly was third.

The event was won by Kelly Marren.

Soderholm landed both of her finals runs. Her second run consisted of a slob grab, method, frontside 540, backside 540, frontside 720 and a switch frontside 360.

“There were a lot of good riders out here, so I was really surprised with my results,” Soderholm said. “I was the last one to qualify into finals, which made me kind of nervous, but luckily I was able to land my run and still have fun.”

Kelly’s first run in the finals put her on the podium. Her run consisted of a Mctwist, frontside 540, backside 540, indy, backside 360 and a backside 360.

The two athletes will compete in the next Revolution Tour stop in Otsego, Mich.
