Steamboat Springs Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club skier Adam Loomis led the way for the United States in a pair of Nordic combined Continental Cup competitions in Erzurum, Turkey.
Loomis led an American contingent with a fifth-place finish in a Saturday event, then he did the same with a 11th-place showing Sunday.
Loomis on Saturday finished the 10-kilometer cross-country ski course in 26 minutes, 9.3 seconds, not far off top finisher Tobias Kammerlander, of Austria, who was in at 25:42.9.
Michael Ward was 23rd in that race, Erik Lynch finished in 31st and Tyler Smith was 42nd.
Loomis lost six places but maintained the same distance to the leader Sunday, finishing at 25:34.2, behind Truls Soenstehagen Johansen, of Norway, who finished at 25:03.7.
Ward was 13th on Sunday, in at 25:38.0, Cliff Field was 29th, and Lynch was 41st.
