Steamboat Springs The Soroco High School girls basketball team fell Friday to the Denver Eagles Christian Homeschool, 74-64.
The Rams (2-2) fell behind by 7 in the first quarter and never could quite climb back into the game.
“I was pleased with the way they played,” Soroco coach David Bruner said. “They just shot the ball better than us.”
Soroco struggled shooting just 30 percent in the game. The Rams trailed by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter before whittling it down to 6, but Soroco never would get any closer.
“We just ran out of gas by then,” Bruner said. “I thought they might run away with it, but we did a good job.”
Madison George led the Rams with 18 points. Jacey Schlegel added 13 and Lindsay Miles chipped in 12.
Soroco next plays at 5:30 p.m. Monday at home against Beth Eden Baptist School.
