Steamboat Springs — Nick Williams couldn’t wait to get out on the mats since it had been more than a year since he had competed.
What a way to come back.
Williams, a senior, finished sixth at 145 pounds at the Vernal, Utah, Tournament of Champions on Saturday.
“He wrestled lights out,” Hayden coach Chad Jones said about Williams, who just missed third place after he lost by 1 in overtime. “For his first tournament back, it was excellent to show us where he’s at.”
Ryan Domson also placed eighth at 170 pounds. Freshman Kent Miller just missed placing.
Hayden next competes Saturday at Rangely.
