The Hayden High School girls basketball team lost a nine-point lead in the fourth quarter Friday, falling, 62-59, at Meeker.
The Tigers (5-2) struggled with turnovers and couldn’t keep up with the Cowgirls.
“We had some turnovers and that hurt us,” Hayden coach Michelle Wilkie said. “Momentum started heading Meeker’s way, and they capitalized on it.”
It was a tight game, with Hayden leading just 33-31 at half. But the Tigers started to extend their lead in the fourth before the Cowgirls took advantage.
Meeker made nine free throws in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.
Kelsey Rolando led the Tigers with 20 points, including six 3-pointers. Erin Koehler added 16 points, Aubree Haskins had 11 and Brette Frentress had 10.
Hayden next plays at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Little Snake River, Wyo.
