Registration is open for the 31st Steamboat Marathon. The half-marathon and marathon races are June 3. There also is a 10-kilometer race and a half-mile Honey Stinger Fun Run. The marathon is capped at 500 participants, and the half-marathon is capped at 1,200. The 10-kilometer race doesn’t have a cap, and the fun run is capped at 200.
Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association Public Relations Manager Michelle Krasilinec said registration is on pace with last year. She said the Chamber expects more entrants this year after Colorado Runner magazine named Steamboat Marathon the “Best Weekend Getaway” in 2011.
Through May 2, the cost is $70 for the marathon, $55 for the half-marathon and $35 for the 10-kilometer race.
To register, visit www.steamboatmarathon.com, or visit www.active.com and enter Steamboat Marathon. Runners also can register in person at the Steamboat Springs visitor center, 125 Anglers Drive.
Routt County residents will receive $10 off the race registration if signing up in person.
Colorado Republican Party launches caucus website
The Colorado Republican Party has launched a new website that allows registered Republicans to find their caucus location as well as pre-register for the February caucus. The website is www.caucus.cologop.org.
“Colorado Republicans are committed to investing in new technologies in order to maintain a competitive advantage in the upcoming 2012 elections,” Chuck McConnell, chairman of the Routt County Republican Central Committee, said in a news release.
The precinct caucuses, scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 7, will be available to voters who registered as Republicans by Dec. 7, 2011. Participants also must be residents of their precincts as of Jan. 9, 2012. Because of redistricting, precinct boundaries will not be finalized until Monday.
