— Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club member Jarryd Hughes continues his climb in snowboard cross, registering a 10th-place finish at a World Cup event in Stoneham, Quebec, the first World Cup start of his career.

The 16-year-old Hughes broke out just a week ago at the Canyons Grand Prix snowboard cross event, where he finished third.

“Jarryd is doing a good job of keeping it in perspective and having fun,” Winter Sports Club Snowboarding Director Jon Casson said. “All this is crazy for him. This is beyond expectations. He’s lining up in gates next to his heroes, and he’s having a ball.”

Also recording finishes for the Winter Sports Club were Belle Brockhoff in 17th and Jenna Feldman in 18th.

The Alpine snowboard team also competed in a NorAm event at Le Relais, Quebec, where Justin Reiter won his first NorAm of the year.
