Soroco boys basketball beats De Beque, 76-71

Luke Graham

— The Soroco High School boys basketball team beat De Beque, 76-71, on Friday.

The Rams got big games from Nic Paxton and Ryan Jeep.

“It was an interesting game,” Soroco coach Sam McLeod said. “It’s always an interesting game in De Beque.”

Paxton led the team with 26 points, including four 3-pointers. Jeep, despite sitting out the third quarter because of foul trouble, kicked in 25 points.

De Beque had a big third quarter to close the gap, but Soroco instantly answered in the fourth.

Soroco now decides its playoff fate. The team plays at 4 p.m. Saturday at home against Vail Mountain.

The Soroco girls play Battle Mountain at 2:30 p.m.
