Steamboat Springs ■ 3 p.m. Saturday: Steamboat (11-6-1, 6-5-1) at Ralston Valley (14-1-1, 9-1-0)
The good news is the Steamboat Springs High School hockey team has ensured itself a playoff berth.
The only thing to decide is where the Sailors will be seeded.
With a win at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ralston Valley, Steamboat could be seeded as high as sixth but no lower than eighth.
“We want to keep winning and get into the playoffs on a positive note,” Steamboat coach Jeff Ruff said.
Against Ralston Valley, Steamboat finds one of the top two teams in the Foothills Conference. But Ralston Valley will be playing its third game in three days Saturday.
A win not only would have the potential to get Steamboat a higher seed but also make a statement as the team heads into the playoffs.
Steamboat, despite its seed, will be paired with a team from the Peak Conference.
“I think this is an opportunity for us to go in and open some eyes,” Ruff said. “I think we can do that.”
