— Another snow system is headed toward Steamboat, with the flakes expected to start flying about midday Sunday.

The National Weather Service is forecasting 1 to 3 inches of snow in the city Sunday, with another inch or 2 possible Sunday night. The mountains surrounding Steamboat could see a bit more snow than what falls in town.

Tonight’s low will dip to 14 degrees before warming to a high of 36 on Sunday. A chance of snow continues into early next week, with a 40 percent chance of snow Monday and a 30 percent chance of snow Tuesday. Daytime highs will remain in the mid- to upper 30s.

The 99th annual Winter Carnival continues this evening with the Night Extravaganza featuring the Lighted Man and a fireworks display. Street events will take place Sunday morning, as will the traditional Winter Carnival parade featuring the Steamboat Springs High School ski band. Click here for a complete schedule.
