Steamboat Springs The Soroco boys basketball team played markedly better than the first time the team played Vail Christian.
But the Rams still struggled in transition, falling, 78-66, on Tuesday.
Still, it was a big improvement from when the two teams met the first time, a 79-39 Vail Christian win.
“We were definitely in a fight,” Soroco coach Sam McLeod said. “We turned it around from the last time we played them.”
The Rams (5-8) were able to stay in it thanks in part to the work of forwards Ryan Jeep and AJ Anderson, who combined to score 35 points.
However, Soroco wasn’t able to keep up with Vail Christian in transition.
Soroco next plays at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Hayden.
“It’s the same caliber of opponent,” McLeod said. “Hayden has been playing extremely tough basketball lately. It’s always a lot of excitement when we play Hayden. Hopefully, we play with the same intensity.”
